What to prepare before ordering a website: a practical checklist

Practical

1. The goal

In one or two sentences, state why the website is needed: enquiries, a company presentation, sales, a portfolio or an account.

2. Users

Describe the main groups of visitors and, if there are roles, what each one should do.

3. Services or goods

Prepare a list of directions, products or packages with short descriptions.

4. Materials

Collect the logo, photographs, examples of work, texts, documents and links. If something is missing, that is also important to note.

5. References

Show a few websites and say what you like: the structure, the style, the cards, the menu or the way projects are presented.

6. Functions

List registration, payment, a catalogue, a cart, WhatsApp, languages and a personal account separately.

7. Languages and market

State the languages, the country or markets, the currency and the main ways to get in touch.

8. The minimum result

Decide the version with which the website can already be used. The rest can be added after launch.
